District Janjgir-Champa District Janjgir-Champa is situated in the center of Chhattisgarh and hence it is considered as the heart of Chhattisgarh was established on 25 May 1998. Janjgir, the district headquarters of the district Janjgir-Champa, is the town of Maharaja Janjvalya Dev of the Kalchuri dynasty. Janjgir-Champa district is a major producer of food grains in the state Chhattisgarh. The Vishnu temple of Janjgir district reflects the golden past of this district. The Vishnu temple is an ancient artistic specimen of the Vaishnava community.
Hasdobango Project is considered as life support canal for Janjgir-Champa district. Under this project 3/4th area of the district will be covered for irrigation.
Location of the district – The district headquarter of Janjgir-Champa is situated on National Highway 200 at Janjgir which is 65 km from Janjgir. away from Bilaspur and 175 KM from state capital Raipur via road. The district headquarter Janjgir is also connected with the rail line of South-East-Central Railway. It is situated on the Howrah-Mumbai main line. State capital Raipur is 152 kms. From Janjgir via rail route. The railway stations of district Janjgir are Janjgir-Nayla and Champa. Champa, Akaltara, Naila (Janjgir) are its major railway stations. The main river of the district is the Hasdo (Hasdev) river, 175 km long.
